Rolling Out Great Customer Service

(Cambridge, Ontario) On Thursday, January 20, 2005, Roger Benham, Owner/Operator of Tire Connection, received the December Hospitality Hero Award presented by Cambridge Tourism.

The nominator noted that customer service is extremely important to her and she felt that Roger definitely went over and above, especially when he didn’t have to. This was demonstrated when the nominator had come into his shop with a tire that she wished to have fixed. Hospitality Hero Award - December 2004After examining the level of damage, Roger concluded that the tire was not repairable. Unfortunately, its replacement required a special order that would take a week to come in. Because Roger was concerned that the spare this customer was driving on would be dangerous to use for a whole week, he kindly insisted that he provide her with a tire from his shop in the meantime. Roger then remained open after hours to install the interim tire. The nominator added, "I always go back to Tire Connection. I know that I will be treated fairly and that he cares about his customers."

Roger has been in the business for 40 years and has been at the Cambridge location for 14 years. When presented with his award he noted that "The customer is most important. They are the reason why you show up in the morning".

In recognition of his commitment to customer service, Cambridge Tourism presented Roger with a Hospitality Hero plaque, gold lapel pin and a gift basket overflowing with contributions from Tourism Partner businesses.
