(Cambridge, Ontario, February 25, 2005) In her
years at Comfort Inn Cambridge, Gail O’Connor, Guest Service
Representative, has enjoyed supporting guests to make them
feel comfortable and welcome.
And for this self professed
people person, it truly is a pleasure. "I treat our hotel
guests as if they were guests in my own home", she said when
recently surprised with Cambridge Tourism’s Hospitality Hero
Award. Gail had taken some time away from the hotel business
and is thrilled to now be back where she feels she truly
belongs, "serving people, anticipating their needs and
making them happy".
Gail was nominated in January by some
grateful "hockey moms", when the hotel hosted the USA
Eagles, a Children’s Hockey Club. One nominator noted that
Gail went out of her way to make the team of Michigan
youngsters and their chaperones comfortable. Gail allowed
the team to use a room at the front of the hotel to feed the
boys, and cheerfully helped them set everything up. Whenever
the kids’ exuberance got out of hand, Gail’s polite and
professional response was so smooth and good-humoured that
the situation would be rectified without anyone ever feeling
embarrassed or admonished. At the end of their stay, Gail
accommodated the team’s request for a late checkout to
ensure that they would be relaxed before their final game.
"She’s a very sweet person who continually went above and
beyond for us", said another nominator. "She was so patient
with our many questions and requests and deserves to be
commended". Gail’s manager, Cathy Rogozynski, concurs. "Her
name is constantly on our comment cards as an employee who
should be recognized for exceptional service. We’re thrilled
to see her "officially" acknowledged with this award!"
In recognition of her commitment to customer service,
Cambridge Tourism presented Gail with a Hospitality Hero
plaque, gold lapel pin and a gift basket overflowing with
contributions from Tourism Partner businesses.
