A STANDING OVATION FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

(Cambridge, Ontario) On Tuesday, August 10th, 2004, Chris Joyce, House Manager at
Theatre Cambridge, received the July Hospitality Hero Award presented by Cambridge Tourism.

In their first full summer season, customer service has already proven to be a “big hit” at Theatre Cambridge. Chris Joyce was nominated for ensuring that a theatre guest had an enjoyable evening, despite an unfortunate circumstance. The nominator and a group of friends had arrived at Theatre Cambridge for the performance of 'Nunsense'. As they found their seats and were just starting to get comfortable, one of the actresses made an announcement on stage that a parked car outside had been left running with the keys locked inside it. The nominator quickly realized that it was her car and alerted Chris Joyce to the situation. Chris accompanied her while she called CAA and then insisted that the nominator go back into the theatre, so that she wouldn't miss any of the performance. Chris gladly waited by the car until CAA arrived to unlock it. Once the car was unlocked, the keys were handed over to the nominator who hadn’t missed one moment of the performance. The nominator wanted to sincerely thank Chris for turning a potentially disastrous situation, into a wonderful evening.

When presented with this recognition, Chris stated, “I always tell the ushers that house management is about the comfort and safety of the audience. The ushers always go above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate the audience and their requests”. Ken Wright, Co-Founder of Theatre Cambridge commented, “This award truly demonstrates Chris’s awesome commitment to customer service!”
Cambridge Tourism presented Chris at Theatre Cambridge with a gift basket overflowing with contributions from our Tourism Partner businesses, a Hospitality Hero plaque and a gold lapel pin to acknowledge her achievement.
