 (Cambridge, Ontario) On Tuesday, July 20th, 2004, Odillia Mitchelmore, Hairstylist at The Look Hair & Spa, received the June Hospitality Hero Award presented by Cambridge Tourism.
Odillia has worked at The Look for 10 years and was nominated for going above and beyond the call of duty by assisting a young girl whose mother had recently passed away. The girl’s mother, also a hairdresser by trade, had always been there to style her daughter’s hair for various upcoming special occasions such as her confirmation and grade 8 graduation. These are important events in a young girl’s life and who better to share them with, than your Mom. Understanding this, Odillia stepped in and made sure to make them as special as they should be. In order to accommodate the young girl’s needs, she would go into work early and on Sundays when the Salon was normally closed to ensure that she would be available even on very short notice. It was Odillia's kindness and compassion that made it easy for her to put everything aside and to go out of her way for this customer. The nominator commented, “It's the little things that make differences in people's lives”, and she wanted to nominate Odillia to let people know how special she is.
When presented with this recognition, a teary eyed Odillia told Cambridge Tourism, ”Customer Service is very important to me. I always try to do whatever I can to go above and beyond for every customer.“ Odillia’s Manager Nell, exclaimed, “She always goes out of her way, she totally deserves it!”
Cambridge Tourism presented Odillia at The Look with a gift basket overflowing with contributions from our Tourism Partner businesses, a Hospitality Hero plaque and a gold lapel pin to acknowledge her achievement.
The Hospitality Hero Awards Program,
launched in October 2001, is designed to recognize individual
achievement in providing outstanding customer service and
hospitality to visitors to Cambridge and the surrounding
area. Awards are presented based on nominations received
