(Cambridge, Ontario) On Friday, November 7th, 2003, Christina
Bradley, Retail Manager at Wings of Paradise, received the
October Hospitality Hero Award presented by Cambridge Tourism.
It is always special to make a visitor feel welcome and to
send them home with a memorable experience. Christina has
worked at Wings of Paradise since 1999 and was nominated
for enhancing the vacation experience of a visitor from Nova
Scotia. Our nominator was on holiday in Cambridge visiting
her family when they surprised her with an outing to Wings
of Paradise. She was absolutely awed and amazed with the
facility. Since the outing was a surprise, she had not come
prepared with extra money for a souvenir of her visit. She
felt that Wings of Paradise was so beautiful that she really
wished she could have purchased the sweatshirt that she admired
in the gift shop. When she returned to Nova Scotia, she e-mailed
Wings of Paradise wondering if they could ship her the sweatshirt.
Christina promptly returned her e-mail indicating that she
could definitely send her the exact shirt. Unfortunately,
the visitor did not have the funds available at that time
so she held off on ordering the sweatshirt. Christina continually
kept in touch with her in Nova Scotia via e-mail, and by
the time she ordered the shirt, our nominator felt like she
had really gotten to know Christina and made a new friend.
When the shirt arrived in Nova Scotia, it was enclosed with
a hand written note from Christina expressing her appreciation
for the kind words that they had shared about Wings of Paradise.
Our nominator was surprisingly overwhelmed by Christina's
effort and commented that she had never had anything like
that happen to her before. She raved, “Christina was
amazing".
When Cambridge Tourism presented Christina
with her award she said, “ Customer service is about
going above and beyond to meet the customer’s needs
and making sure they are satisfied.” Doug Wilson, President
and C.E.O. of Wings of Paradise commented, “Christina
is always comforting, welcoming and warm – nobody works
harder at it than Christina.” Cambridge Tourism presented Christina at Wings of Paradise
with a gift basket overflowing with contributions from our
tourism partner businesses, a Hospitality Hero plaque and
a gold lapel pin to acknowledge her achievement.
