Ontario) On Friday, May 2, 2003, Sigi Ringwald, Restaurant
Manager at Rushes Restaurant in The Waterloo Inn & Conference
Centre, received the April Hospitality Hero Award presented
by Cambridge Tourism.
The nomination was received from a
couple who had planned their wedding at Rushes Restaurant
and had no idea of how to start in terms of decorating
or arranging their wedding dinner. The nominator raved
about Sigi Ringwald’s
exceptional service and advice on how to arrange the dinner
based on her past experience. Not only did Sigi provide
them with great advice and support, but made them feel
completely at home. Sigi even gave them a warm congratulatory
hug the morning after their wedding. The nominator stated, “If
I were to summarize Sigi’s exceptional service, I
would say she really made us feel at home. I especially
like that before we left, she told us to come back and
don’t make ourselves a stranger”.
When Sigi was presented with her award,
she was teary-eyed when she told Cambridge Tourism, “I am really over
whelmed! Thank you so much! Everyone in this hotel tries
to please our customers, we are all a team”.
Cambridge Tourism surprised Sigi at Rushes Restaurant
with a gift basket overflowing with contributions from
our tourism partner businesses, a Hospitality Hero plaque
and a gold lapel pin to acknowledge her achievement.
The Hospitality Hero Awards Program,
launched in October 2001, is designed to recognize individual
achievement in providing outstanding customer service
and hospitality to visitors to Cambridge and the surrounding
area. Awards are presented based on nominations received
from visitors and local area residents. Nomination forms
are available at over 280 Cambridge Tourism Partner businesses
and at Gateway - the Cambridge Visitor & Business
Information Centre. Nominations can also be submitted
on the Cambridge Tourism website www.cambridgetourism.com.
