(Cambridge, Ontario – November 6, 2002) On
Tuesday November 6, 2002 Cambridge Tourism presented the
11th Hospitality Hero Award to Wayne Shouldice and Cathy
Boult of Wayne Shouldice Collision Ltd., in Cambridge.
What would you do if you were
from the United States, passing through Cambridge on business
and your car was broken into and all of your money & identification were
stolen? This was the predicament that Mary Downey, a
visitor from Michigan, was in when she stopped for a quick
lunch off Hwy. 401 outside of Cambridge. Ms. Downey was
lucky enough to meet Wayne Shouldice and Cathy Boult when
her car was towed to Wayne Shouldice Collision Ltd., in
Cambridge for repairs. Wayne & Cathy, recognizing the
distressful situation that Mary was in, gave money out
of their own pockets for accommodation, arranged for a
rental car, and provided spending money for toiletries
and meals while her car was being repaired.
“I
was a total stranger but they treated me as one of their
own…I am so thankful for their help. Cambridge is blessed,”
said Ms. Downey. To this, Cathy Boult responded “It is easy
to do nice things for nice people and I would hope that if I
were ever in that situation, someone would do the same thing
for me”.
The Hospitality Hero Awards Program, launched in October
2001, was designed to recognize individual achievement in
providing outstanding customer service and hospitality to
visitors to Cambridge & the surrounding area. Awards are presented based
on nominations received from visitors and local area
