(Cambridge, Ontario – October 7, 2002) On Monday October 7, 2002 Cambridge Tourism presented the 10th Hospitality Hero Award to Francine McPartlin, Assistant Retail Manager at the African Lion Safari’s Gift Shop.

Going ‘above-and-beyond’ comes naturally to Francine McPartlin and driving a woman and her son home to Woodstock at 10 p.m. at night is a perfect example.  Upon closing the shop for the night Francine found that a very distraught woman with her young son had lost the keys to their car. After numerous collect phone calls and still no one able to come to their assistance, Francine took it upon herself to make sure these visitors arrived home safely.  Using her own car, and on her own time, Francine drove this mother and son home to Woodstock, the opposite direction that Francine would have taken to her own home in St. George.  After an exciting day at the Safari, and the adventure of trying to get home, the young visitor was so exhausted he even fell asleep in Francine’s car.

Tina Kindt, Retail Manager and Francine’s supervisor was not surprised at this uncommon act of kindness from Francine and said  "I have worked with Francine for over 20 years and her nomination for the Hospitality Hero Award does not surprise me! Francine looks upon her job as a 'labour of love'.  She continually provides outstanding customer service to all of our guests and it's something that just comes naturally to her. She is a great asset to African Lion Safari".
