Visitor Information Providers - posted March 9, 2004 Are you proud of Cambridge? Would you like to express your pride to the visitors of our community? No matter if you like being in the public eye or acting behind the scenes, we have an enjoyable opportunity for you to contribute to the Cambridge area.
The Cambridge V.I.P.’s (Visitor Information Providers) is an active volunteer group working for Cambridge Tourism supporting the Visitor Services Department.
Job Title: Cambridge V.I.P.’s (Visitor Information Providers)
Purpose: Act as a knowledgeable and friendly ambassador to support the goals of the Cambridge Tourism Visitors Services Department.
General Duties & Time Commitment: As noted below, but not restricted to the following, as light duty administrative support may be required to achieving certain goals or to complete tasks.
- Tourism Counsellor Assistant - to support staff with the front line welcoming services at the Gateway Visitors Centre.
Time commitment – one 3 to 4 hour shift per week.
- Community Ambassador – provide visitor services and community information at conventions, festivals, sporting events, etc.
Time commitment – 3 to 4 hour shifts primarily on weekends year round.
- Step-On Tour Guide - provide an exciting and memorable tour of the City of Cambridge to pre-arranged motor coach groups
Time commitment – 3 to 4 hours on booked tour dates.
Qualifications:
- Friendly, outgoing personality supported by knowledge of Cambridge
- Desire to help others discover Cambridge
- Must be able to speak clearly in English
- A second language is an asset
- Must be a team player and take direction effectively
- Must be able to lift boxes on occasions
Training: will provide one-day in-house hospitality training session, plus ongoing hands on training from experienced personnel.
